Influence of e-learning apps and online platforms in science learning
Science education imparts a method of inquiry and a systematic way of processing knowledge about the physical world to the learners. But in the present scenario, face to face classroom situations are not possible in many occasions the role of e-learning apps and online platforms came to force. Along with school education, utilising e-platforms helps the students to get a chance to uplift their skills, gain knowledge and develop their abilities. The platform also provides access to recent trends and developments, access to updated contents and bring education right to home and saves time. The learners have the option to study at their comfortable time and repeat lessons at any time but it posses many disadvantages apart from its advantages.
As a part of the B.Ed curriculum, a study was conducted on the influence of e-learning apps and online platforms in science learning. For this I utilised survey method using a 3-point rating scale. Data for the study was obtained by administering the tool to 25 high school students of SNDP HSS Karamveli. The scores were calculated on the basis of the responses.
The data were analysed using frequency counts and percentage. The mean, medium, mode and standard deviation of the obtained data was calculated. After analysis it is seen that the Arithmetic mean is 33.8, median is 34.16, mode is 32.85 and standard deviation is 5.142. The obtained data is graphically represented using pie-diagram histogram and normal curve.
By interpreting data, it is clear that among the 25 students, 4 are highly influenced, 18 are moderately influenced and the 3 are less influenced by the usage of e-learning apps and online platforms in science learning.
From the study, it is found that majority of the students are moderately influenced by e-learning apps and only a small fraction is highly influenced and few are less influenced. This is because of the unawareness of using e-platforms, lack of electronic gadgets, poor network connectivity in rural areas, financial instability, etc.
Providing resources doesn't ensure its effectiveness, how it is utilized must also be ensured. Making a way doesn't mean everyone will approach it, ensure to throw light on the path. Then we can see glimpses of success..
